With the rising volume of Filipino visitors to France, the French Embassy has opened a dedicated visa application center to efficiently process the increasing number of entry applications to their country.
“In recent years, France has experienced a rapid rise in the number of Schengen visa applications from the Philippines,” French Ambassador Thierry Mathou said Tuesday.
France is a member of the Schengen group of 25 European nations that allow visitors a single visa to enter countries that are part of the bloc.
Almost 20,000 visa applications from the Philippines were received by the embassy in 2015, which, according to Mathou, is a 100 percent increase from 2010.
The increase in visa applications, he noted, “demands that the embassy come up with ways to continue to remain efficient.”
“As visa applications are forecasted to increase by 20 percent per year in the coming years, putting up an outsourcing centre is not only strategic but necessary,” Mathou said.
The French visa center’s new home at the Eco Plaza Building in Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City offers a personalized reception, assistance in the completion of applicants’ files, and provide real-time information on the status of the application and the release date of the passport of the applicant through e-mail or text.
Visa applicants traveling to France may schedule an appointment date and submit their documents directly to the visa center.
Applicants may now set an appointment with the VFS Global Centre by calling 7904903 from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
